Just Molly’s Little Ramblings

How social are you really? I’ve probably signed up to 98% of the social networking, bookmarking and forums on the internet over the years but how much do I actually use them other then to add my lenses?  And I only use a small percentage of them to add them too as well.  Not much and that’s not good.  Most of them I haven’t even filled in the profile for pete’s sake.

Awhile back I found some lenses that had social bookmarking, networking and forum sites on such as lisadh’s lens on 97 Social Bookmarking Sites and Rajay’s lens on Top Ways To Promote Your Squidoo Lenses and then poddy’s has to go posting this User Name Check on Tagfoot and of course I just had to look and then I just had to find out where I was listed and just forgot about.   Then jeffryv has to go and make a submit it toolbar which, next to fluffy’s toolbar, is one of the best tools around.

But I ask you this, how in the world does anyone keep up with them?? How is my poor old peanut suppose to store all this information?  I can never figure out what to say on a profile cause I just don’t like to toot my own and quite honestly I’m not that exciting.  I’m not a “world traveler”, I’m not a “molly homemaker”, I’m not a “rocket scientist” and two things I’ve never liked to discuss with people is Religion and Politics……causes too many hurt feelings if you don’t agree with someone and I’m not a hurtful person by nature, I do have my own opinions but I just keep them to myself most of the time. I’m not a party animal by any means, my children are now adults with lives of their own but I don’t have grandkids yet.   Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not degrading myself in any way at all, I just look at myself honestly and see my pros and cons is all, I’m just me nothing special or spectacular, just a normal average middle-aged woman.  As for adding people to a network, it’s not that I’m not a social person cause I am once I get to know a person it’s just that I can’t initiate it.  I always feel like I’m intruding on people, so I sit on the sidelines and watch for the most part.  I never got into the “tweeting” thing, I’m just not impressed with it, I use to sit in a couple different chatrooms for hours and talk to people but that was years ago and they’ve since been long gone, sending “tweets” back and forth to people just is NOT the same thing  and I don’t find it useful at all, facebook is way too complicated to figure out as is MySpace but I have profiles on each site and why if I’m not gonna use them.  Now I know of a few lenses that show you how to make the most of it but I’m not a “techie” person so if unless it’s written in idiot terms, it’s just gonna confuse me more.  I’ve recently just found inkserotica’s lens on MyBlogLog and FeedCat just haven’t really had the time yet to go thru them but is there any more lens or sites that anyone’s aware of like them?  And just how social are people on these sites?

Oh yea and on these bookmarking sites you’re on do you actually keep stuff organized?  Under folders or tags or whatever.  Such as here on Squidtop do you use “Categories”?  I’m trying to be more organized and more social…….but it’s just not working out too good cause I’m always either in such a hurry to get things done or I lose interest.  The attention span isn’t that good all the time….lol….

…bump up an old post?  I tried to edit a post thinking it would come to the top but the wrong post came up.  This is the one I wanted to come to the top to remind people about the Choice Awards except the spam post pop up instead….sheeeesh….Some days I just can’t get anything right.

I’m not sure why but I seem to be getting a lot of spam on here.  I have my settings set that you have to approved at least once by me before a post is made public and then any post that person makes after that is automatically approved and I also get a notification in my email account that there’s been a posting on one my posts as well.  Lately tho I’m getting an over abundance of gibberish spam on here and every time I log in I have to go through a couple hundred posts that are simple gibberish for drugs, gambling and porn.  Anyone have any idea of how to stop this permanently?  It’s quite annoying and driving me nuts.  I don’t have a lot of time as it is for blogs and lenses and such and when I have to go though a ton of non-sense posts like that, well makes me wonder if it’s really worth the effort at all.

I’m just curious to know how many blogs people have and which platforms you use for them?  At present I use Blogger and I have 6 of them.  I’ve also tried WordPress as well but I’m having a hard time with it.  Blogger seems to be easier to use, IMO.  Maybe because I’ve used it more but WordPress just seems a little more complicated to me so this is the only blog I use with WordPress, if someone has a lens on making WordPress or any type of blog easy to understand, such as what the heck is a “trackback url” and how in the world do I get back to the main page with all the other blogs on it after I’ve logged in and made this post?? Let us all know.  What is it that you blog about?  Feel free to drop a link to your blog here if you want cause…….well I’m nosey and I like to read what others have to post about!

So rumor has it that there’ll be another Batman movie which starts filming in 2010.  This is according Gary Oldman who played Gordon in the last 2 Batman movies.   Now I know I”m gonna catch a little flack for this one but I certainly hope they don’t keep Christian Bale as Batman/Bruce Wayne.  Before you fly off on a rant here read a little further on.  Remember that Bruce Wayne is human, he’s mortal and like all mortals we age.  For Batman Begins and The Dark Knight he may have been good for the role but if they have to look at the others who have played Batman in the past.  Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer and George Clooney and Christian Bale may have been perfect when they took back in time to his younger years but now they have to get someone who looks older.

I’m not expecting Robin in the new one either since the director already stated that he’d never have a Robin in any of his movies.  But I have heard rumors about a new Cat Woman tho, as a matter of fact I’ve heard of several but the last one being Angelina Jolie but then I also heard that Cher was suppose to do it too (that I think was a joke, or at least I hope it was).  Personally I think Michelle Pfeiffer should be brought back since once again, Selina Kyle is mortal as well and does age.  And I’ve also heard that Johnny Depp or Eddie Murphy is suppose to play Riddler, I’m not voting for either one.

But the truth is we’ll just have to wait and see. I’d love to see Michael Keaton back in the Batsuit but I know that’s not gonna happen and I’d also like to see them remove the violence from it too since it is suppose to be a kid’s show.

MikeMoore on Squidoo has come up with an excellent lens for everyone to enjoy it.  He’s making a Squidoo Choice Awards lens.  I suggest you bookmark it so you’ll remember to participate in it when he’s all finished it.  From the looks of it, it’s gonna be a lot of fun!  Right now he’s looking for Category Ideas so take a few minutes everyone and give him a hand, it’ll be worth it!

Well I haven’t been around much lately, well I’ve been reading just not posting.  And it’s taken me a long time to get this new lens done simply because I haven’t been able to get myself into research mode.  Just been feeling a little out of sorts lately and wondering if it’s all worth it.  But any way, I finally finished my Perry White lens to go along with the rest of them like Superman, Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen.  I know, I know, big whoop right   But for me it is a big whoop cause I’ve been trying (emphases on “trying”) to get it done for months and now I have.  Probably add things to it over and over again but for now it’s at least publishable!

So I was going thru the health check on one of my lenses the other day and I decided to check out Squidaholic and under the “who’s got an eye on you” I clicked to see all the links and lo and behold there was one to the SquidU forum under the birthday thread, now I know I never posted on that thread before so I was curious to see what it was. In this thread you’re allowed to post a link to a lens you want traffic to but just on your birthday.   Imagine my surprise when I see a post from N367 aka Glen with a link to MY Batman lens!!  GLEN, a guy who has already given so much help to everyone thru his lenses already, a guy who has taken the time to post MY LENS on HIS birthday, which was back in February!!  And I never even said thank you and I can’t actually go back to the thread and pull it up now, looks too spammy to me when someone does that.  I know it’s not mandatory but a little acknowledgment when someone does something nice for you goes a long way.  Any way, here I’d like to say thank you to everyone who has ever posted on one of my lenses, rated any of them or even just looked at them.  Thanks to Janusz who not only commented, rated and fav a couple of my lenses but also came back after he got his wings to bless them as well, that was so sweet.  Thanks to ThomasC for not only the words of encouragement but the blessings and the chuckles too (as a sidenote I was using the Random Lens Viewer of rbailey83’s one day and I had 3 different lenses from the same author came up and this is what made me chuckle.  The author was ThomasC and one of the lenses was of muscle cars, one was of a playgirl and the last was a cooking recipe….lol…..talk about diversified. )  So in case I haven’t said it enough, Thank you to everyone for their words of encourgament!!

Out of curiosity I’m just wondering if there’s any decent chatrooms left on the internet??  Years ago I use to go to a room on excite but it’s since been shut down.  I know there’s rooms on yahoo and msn but any time I ever went into any of them there was just a bunch of kids in them horsing around.  And some times I just want to go and talk to other adults about nothing in particular and everything in general.  I know there’s a chatroom on Squidoo but there’s not always people there anymore or they’re busy doing other things, understandable considering it is a Squidoo chatroom.  I don’t want to have to download anything in order to talk to people, all I want is simply a chatroom that you can go to a few laughs on occassion with other adults.  Anyone have any good suggestions??

Apparently I have some legit comments in the “recent spam harvest” and I have no idea how to get them out of there or how they got in there to begin with.  First I’d like to apologize to those people who posted to a few of my ramblings, for some strange reason they were put into the “recent spam harest” category and I never knew this.  It was always telling me that I had no comments waiting for approval.  So my next question is this, how do I fix that????   This thing has to be easier then how I’m doing it but the only thing I’ve ever managed to do on here is simply post……..sorry not the brightest bulb in the pack here, so if anyone can help me with this I’d really appreciate it.  I’m not ignoring postings on purpose!!!!  Well not the legitimate posters at least!
