Is Batman Getting Too Dark????

Posted by molly6342 on January 25, 2009

When I was young, I remember my brothers hurrying home from school so they could watch Batman, the Adam West Batman.  At Christmas time, all the little boys wish lists had at least one of Batman’s gadgets or toys.  Batman was every little boy’s hero.  Having just watched The Dark Knight tho, I can say without a doubt, that my parents would never have allowed us to watch this version of Batman and I can also say that if I had small children myself, I would never allow them to watch it either.  Whatever happened to comic books and their heros being for the kids??? When did comics become adult material?  What happened to superheros just saving the good guys and locking up the bad guys?   When did comic books and their heros become so violent?

Molly I am with you here. In the UK the censor gave the film a 12 rating. My youngest are 12 & 10 and there are some 12s we have no problem with them seeing so we were trying to decide what to do about taking them to see the Dark Knight. Fortunately I also have an adult son and the minute he saw the film he called me and said whatever you do, dont take the girls, the Censor has got it wrong.

It seems to me that the only truly comic books films these days are the computer generated ones like The Incredibles, Toy Story etc
